How to Set Up and Use DiskCleanKit Widgets on Your Mac

Why Use Widgets?

DiskCleanKit widgets let you monitor your Mac's storage and system health without opening the full app. They're perfect for:

  • Quick glances at available storage
  • Real-time monitoring of RAM and CPU
  • One-click access to cleaning functions

Adding Desktop Widgets

Step 1: Access Widget Gallery

  • Right-click on any empty space on your desktop
  • Select Edit Widgets from the context menu
  • Or click the date/time in your menu bar and select Edit Widgets

Step 2: Find DiskCleanKit Widgets

  • In the widget gallery, search for "DiskCleanKit"
  • You'll see several widget options in different sizes

Step 3: Choose Your Widget Size

Small Widget

  • Shows available/used storage percentage
  • Minimal footprint on your desktop

Medium Widget

  • Displays storage breakdown with visual chart
  • Shows RAM usage
  • Quick scan button

Large Widget

  • Full storage visualization
  • RAM and CPU monitoring
  • One Touch Clean button
  • Quick access to Disk Manager

Step 4: Add to Desktop

  • Drag your chosen widget to your desktop
  • Position it where you want
  • Click Done when finished

Menu Bar Widget

The menu bar widget is enabled by default when you install DiskCleanKit. You'll see the DiskCleanKit icon in your menu bar right away.

If you want to hide it, simply go to Menu → Hide Menu Bar Widget.

Using Widget Actions

1. Click the Clean button on your widget

2. DiskCleanKit performs a quick safe clean

  • Click the disk icon on medium/large widgets
  • Disk Manager opens directly

Tips for Widget Users

  • Place widgets strategically - Put them where you'll see them during work
  • Use multiple widgets - Different sizes for different purposes
  • Check before major tasks - Glance at storage before downloading large files
  • Tap Refresh when needed - Use the Refresh button to get the latest storage information

Troubleshooting

Widget Not Updating

  • Check if DiskCleanKit has necessary permissions
  • Try removing and re-adding the widget
  • Restart the app

Widget Not Appearing in Gallery

  • Ensure you have the latest version of DiskCleanKit
  • Check that you're running macOS Sonoma or later
  • Restart your Mac if needed
